Now please don’t start congratulating me cos I’ve not met him yet! JBut still I chose to write on this topic as “Marriage” is in the air – most of my friends are married, some have kids too and others are engaged. A very few are in my stage – WAITING. Some people say that it is better to stay single! And that would seem like a good option too – cos when people start living away from home, start earning on their own and roam freely around with friends, might feel that marriage is a threat to their independence. But one can’t stay single for long either! There will always be that peer pressure, family pressure, relative’s pressure and at times proposals pressure too!
One will say this proposal is good the other will say that proposal is good, but you don’t feel good about it. When you think someone is really good and would suit you, they will have some kind of reason to say that it is not okay for them! And this goes on till the PERFECT person comes along.
By perfect I don’t mean that they would be the “person of your dreams” but I said perfect because that was the one that God had created for you! Remember Adam and Eve’s story? They were the first humans – God first created Adam, then He saw that it was not good for Adam to be alone so He brought all the animals and birds to him so that he could have them for company – they were company but not “suitable” company. The same applies to us too. Proposals/people might come in our lives, we might think they will be good for us, but they don’t stay, because they were just not “suitable” for us.
God was the one who created Adam so He obviously knew Adam’s needs and He created Eve, just for the sole purpose of being his companion. She was custom-made for him. When Adam saw Eve, He immediately realized that she was the perfect one for him, that’s why even though he was asleep when she was created, he was able to relate with her as “Bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh”.
So in case you’ve given up on the idea of marriage as you haven’t found the right partner yet, I’d like to encourage you. There is a person God has created for the sole purpose of marrying you. So don’t give up yet, just wait for the Lord to bring that person to you at the right time. Sometimes we may feel that God is delaying but it’s just that He has His own timing that we may not understand right now, but trust in Him, His timing is best! You’ll realize that only when you reach that time.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life – Proverbs 13:12
