To New Beginnings!
This new year has promised to bring a lot of new things my way. One thing was a change of our business (not much impact on my work scope) but there are going to be a lot of changes from reporting structure to change of places and buildings! This will be my 4thbuilding in my 4th year of experience in my company! Don’t even ask me about the number of seat changes! One good thing about this change is that my team remains the same and so does my manager! I will be put in new projects so there will be lot of learning involved. Hope I learn all that is to be learnt.
Another major change is shifting of my mother’s house! It has happened so suddenly, It feels like God just opened a door and pushed us all through it JSo they moved into what is called as “Horeb cottage” (as suggested by our Pastor) – not an independent house but a house in an apartment. It is so different from the quarters that we have considered as “home” for the past 11 years.
I remember mom was a little apprehensive before moving to the quarters but it was our place of refuge and we had grown to like it – even with the occasional visit of snakes, we were also visited by friendly parrots and peacocks, nuisance creating dogs and road-blocking cows. Being the corner house, we always received ample fresh air and cool breeze in the evenings, clear and starry nights. It was a nice place. With all the friendly neighbors leaving one by one, now came the time for us to leave too.
Lot of good memories associated with that place – I met my husband for the first time there (being an arranged marriage, our families met at our house for the first time), we got engaged there in a simple ceremony, all of our close relatives had come and we all stayed together and had a wonderful time. And most of them came and stayed for the house warming ceremony too.
I had to sort out the books and diaries I had collected and written over the years – It was funny to read what my younger me had written JI also found that I had been a drawing enthusiast! Found lot of my drawings as a kid (5th Grade – 7th Grade), most of which had been awarded points out of 10 by my sis. Some of those were in a very bad condition due to the rats feasting on those papers.
I found that it is hard to let go of things which we are used to; but change is inevitable so it is better to embrace it as and when it comes. “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” Just like he visited Moses at Horeb mountain and made water flow from the barren rock, we pray that God will help us perceive and accept the new things that He is doing in our lives!
