And so the countdown begins! One week to go for the big day. An event that we’ve been waiting for, for almost 15+ years is finally here. Yes my big sister is getting married! It still feels surreal. This journey of waiting has been a roller coaster ride for those in our family: filled with all sorts of emotions. There were times when we were seeking, times when we stopped, times of silence, times of hope, times of disappointments, times that seemed to drag on and on. Reminds me of a quote I used to know:
Joseph waited 13 years
Abraham waited 25 years
Moses waited 40 years
Jesus waited 30 years
If God is making you wait, you are in good company.
I don’t know what you are waiting for or how long you’ve been waiting for it, but if your hope is dwindling down, I’d like to encourage you through this testimony. God has been merciful to us and He has blessed us. We are grateful for His grace that abounds in our lives.
If there is one thing I learned in and through these times of waiting – the power of persistent prayers. There were so many people who prevailed in prayer for her. I know of many praying ladies who have lists for: People who are seeking jobs, People waiting to get married, People waiting for the fruit of the womb, and other such lists. So they pray for people in each list and they rejoice when they move people from one list to another! But they don’t stop praying. Thankful to God for such prayer warriors in our lives, people who never give up on us.
Our God is a God of breakthrough and we need to trust in His timing. He has a plan and a purpose: plans to prosper and not to harm. Learning to trust in Him is a process in itself. There are so many things we had to unlearn and learn newly. In and through it all, God was with us, walking by our side, closing all the wrong doors. [Blessedness of closed doors]
Our God is a God who fulfils His promises, [Promise fulfilling Faithful God] He is always true to His word. Whenever I used to pray for her, God used to keep sending me this verse from Jeremiah 33:
This is what the Lord says: You have said, ‘This is a desolate land where people and animals have all disappeared.’ Yet in the empty streets of Jerusalem and Judah’s other towns, there will be heard once more the sounds of joy and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again, along with the joyous songs of people bringing thanksgiving offerings to the Lord.
My sister’s name is Beulah and guess what Beulah means? “Happily Married!” The promise was on her name itself! What more could one want? But there were times wherein I questioned why she was not able to live up to her name. God’s delays are not necessarily God’s denials. What seems delay to us are not delays for him. He was just waiting for the perfect time, in His grand scheme of things.
You [Judah] shall no more be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land be called Desolate any more. But you shall be called Hephzibah [My delight is in her], and your land be called Beulah [married]; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married [owned and protected by the Lord]. Isaiah 62:4 AMPC
Here’s me Hannah, wishing the Bride-to-be Beulah, A Happy Married life! May the Lord bless you and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you his favour and give you his peace.
