God has been given various names by various people during various walks of their lives. Some examples: Hagar called God as the God who sees; for Abraham, He was the God who Provides;  for Hannah, He was the God who hears; the list goes on.

To me personally, at various points of my life, God has been my Help, my Strength, my Defender, my Deliverer, my Provider and of late I have realised, He is the God who enables me.

When I joined to do Masters after a break of one year, the first semester was challenging. I got tired just climbing up and down the bridge stairs to and from hostel, and all the other stairs to go from one block to another as each classes were in different blocks. Not just the physical exertion but the mental ones as well. All around me were brainiacs who had cleared GATE with good score. (When I went for counciling, there were 3 seats left, of which I took one) and some of the assignments given out were tough, not something that one could lift off of google.

To add to that, the first semester started late so there was a time crunch and our semester exams had no breaks in between! During public exam and UG exams we used to have 2-3 days of gap between each exam. I am usually a last minute person, so imagine my terror when the time table had continuous exams every day for 6 days! Monday to Saturday. So many things to learn and so little time! I relied on God for help, He enabled me to prepare and do well in my exams and to score good grades.

Similar situation happened when I switched jobs after my maternity break. The domain was different, the technology/frameworks used were different. I had to spend considerable time learning all the new stuff, initially it was all Greek and Latin to me and had a hard time to cope with all the increased responsibilities. God was my Strength and he enabled me to learn and do my tasks day by day.

There were times I messed up. It was not always a smooth road, with looming deadlines and increased number of bugs, harsh emails shooting left and right, God helped me handle it all.

When I look back at how far I have come: be it personally or professionally, I know I couldn’t have done it, if not for God who was walking by my side, enabling me every step of the way.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights. – Habakkuk 3:19.

Amplified version says: “[He] makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my high places [of challenge and responsibility]”. The notes on this verse says: The troubled times of life may actually be the “high places” of spiritual growth for the believer who remains stable when tested by God.

There are times in our lives when we are set with tasks or have to face responsibilities that are far beyond our capabilities. We get discouraged by just looking at the mountain in front of us. It might be a daunting task, but we can rely on God’s strength to enable us to finish it.

If you are about to climb a mountain of responsibility or half way through a difficult task and feeling weak, tired and helpless, I’d like to give you a word of encouragement: God will enable you! He will give you the strength to do it, he will provide help in someway or the other. Don’t loose hope, don’t give up, keep pushing forward.

He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who has no might He increases power. – Isaiah 40:29 AMP
