It’s November now. We are running towards the end of this year 2020. What an unforgettable year this has been! When this year started, I had no clue that I will be living through a pandemic and that the life I knew was about to change so drastically! It has been a roller coaster of emotions starting with fear and panic to acceptance and learning to live with it. We have adjusted to the new normal of stepping out less, wearing masks, washing hands, disinfecting everything that steps inside the house and what not.  Almost 8 months of not going to schools, offices and other recreational centres: It’s all online now!

There were times when I used to wonder “how long!”,will we ever come out of this situation that we are in? I got so caught up in running in the everyday of things that the future seemed dark and dreary. This lead on to frustration and hopelessness.

I knew there is always hope in Christ. I had the head knowledge but they say “The longest distance in the world is from head to the heart.” and that is what I was struggling with. This morning, I got a wake up call through Paul’s writing:

… Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT.

I remembered an illustration someone once told, comparing the life we live on earth to that of a sparrow flying inside a room and then exiting through the door to outside – eternity. The time spent by the sparrow inside the room is very short compared to what it will spend outside. I think we can use that illustration to understand our everyday struggles as well. Whatever problems that we go through are temporary. It won’t last very long. And that is such a comforting thought!

Seasons of waiting are not always easy. It might be draining, tiring, you might feel worn out but don’t give up hope. There is a purpose behind all of your pain. God will strengthen your spirit in and through this. This season is but for a time, deliverance will come.

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40: 29-31 NLT.

in the context below? If not, what would you suggest? Please take a look. A woman is complaining about her mother-in-law: Anna, I can’t stand my mother-in-law anymore. She is making me feel so sad. Why should I do? ‘I think you should be patient. It won’t last long. She will soon see that you’re a good person.’ It won’t last long
