Thoughts: Hannah's Blog

I take my 5 year old to the park/play area at our apartment premises in the evening. I get to see different kids, some with their mothers, some with their nannies, the older kids with friends playing in different ways.

There was a cute little girl maybe 5-6 years old, who was playing nearby. I smiled at her and she smiled back, then she kept calling to me “Look at me” then she went down the slide. Then she went on the swing and said “Look at me, I can play on swing all by myself.” Then she went on to the roundabout and started turning it and said “See I can turn the roundabout”. I used to respond with “Wow, what a big girl! Good job” etc.

While I was focusing on her, I lost track of my little one. He was playing with some new guys and had moved on from slide to see-saw. He usually is scared of playing in see-saw. By the time I went closer to check on him, he’d gotten scared and jumped down from it and got a little hurt.

I realised my inability to multitask! By then the little girl had to leave for her dance class so she said bye and left and I could concentrate on what my kid was doing.

We may not be able to give attention all the time but God is always watching us. We have his focus on us, we don’t have to call out to him and say “look at me” but whenever we seek His face, we can see that he is always attentive to us and watches over our every move.

“I will instruct and teach you in this way that you are to go; I will give you counsel; my eyes will be watching you.” – Psalms 32:8 CJB

He guides us with his loving eyes upon us. He cares about every little detail of our lives. This year, as you navigate life’s journey, take to heart this reminder, that no matter what you do, no matter where you go, God’s loving eyes are upon you. He will guide you and He will save you.
