Looking at the news, loosing our cool
Locked down in our homes;
Fearful of being infected
Fearful of passing to those who are dear
So many “What Ifs” running through our heads
That finding an answer to each of those
Takes a toll on our mental health
Suddenly, all of us have become scientists
Researching how and where it all started.
Every day, every minute with so much information
– We are overloaded!
All of us have become data analysts
Researching the impact on various countries
How it spread, how fast it spread
Wondering which stage of the pandemic we are in
What’s likely to happen in the next one week or month
or the near future
We are all learning hygienic practises
Wash your hands; cough/sneeze into your elbow;
Avoid touching your face; disinfect the surface.
Panic buying stuff – from masks, to liquid soap
To hand sanitisers (I heard even toilet papers)
Stocking up on groceries, getting ready for the lockdown;
Or the apocalypse maybe!
Social distancing has become the trend
And Whoever practises it, is to be lauded.
As there are socially irresponsible ones
Roaming the towns, infecting others
Not knowing that they themselves are infected.
So where are we headed?
Will we be able to contain?
Like some of the other countries have managed to.
Through all the chaos and through all the panic
God will calm our minds and grant us His peace.
All we can do now is cry for mercy – to
The God of compassion and mercy
He is slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
And so we pray, we hope, we endure!
This too shall pass.
