My birthday on a Good Friday?
This was the first question that came to my mind when I saw this year’s calendar. Because Good Friday is generally a day of mourning as Jesus, the Christ was crucified on the cross; usually I’m happy and excited on my birthdays – conflicting emotions!
This birthday falling on Good Friday, was like a reminder from God of His gift of life to me. It was like adding a personal touch. He died on the cross so that I might live and not just the life here on earth but life – ETERNAL! He didn’t just die, but He defeated death, He rose up from the grave on the 3rd day (celebrated as Easter) and we have HOPE!
So ending my birthday this day on a note of hope:
When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7
