Everyone would be agreeing to that because we could have felt the thorn pricking at us at some point in life or the other. I think it comes like a cycle – good times, bad times, worse times, best times… and it goes on, in some random order. I have observed various kinds of people in my walk of life and I am able to identify with them as well. There is a kind who are happy when the times are good and they thank God for it, but when the time is bad – they tend to blame and question God and turn bitter towards Him. There is another kind who go to God only when they are in need, because they know that God is gracious and he will listen to them and help them when they ask Him, but after they get what they wanted, they just don’t bother with Him afterwards until maybe the next time they are in need. I’ve been a mix of both. But when I look back, I think;

Can we just define God as good or bad depending upon the circumstances we are in? Does he change from being good to bad and bad to good? No. God is not like man to change. God is God, he never changes, what usually happens is, our perception of God changes. God’s qualities never change – He is always good and always faithful. So when troubles come our way and we tend to change, always try to remember and hold on to this truth – God is good! and God is faithful! You may not feel His goodness right now in your situation, but in time you will come to know. Have a little patience and have a little faith, life is not a bed of thorns either! Soon roses will come your way.
