Journey up the hill

Journey up the hill
Last month, I went with my team on an outing. We did a lot of fun activities and many things I was doing for the first time in my life – coracle riding, kayaking and trekking. I have walked a lot but not climbed on hilly area before. Man, it was tough! I was afraid of slipping as there were lots of loose rocks lying there and I was growing tired step by step as we climbed higher. Occasionally my friends helped me in rough spots. Here and there we stopped to take a little rest to catch our breaths and we waited for others to catch up with us. There was a guide who was leading us the way. He was very sure-footed, He would have climbed there a hundred times before! Half way through I became so tired and sweaty, my heart was palpitating so much and every muscle in my leg was crying out loud! I was wondering why did I ever think of coming! The guide warned about it in the beginning. He said once we climb up we cannot climb down the same way, we need to follow a different route so we can’t turn half way.

We kept walking, taking rests occasionally, finally we reached the top. It was a breath-taking sight to behold! The river kauvery flowing peacefully, the place was so calm and serene, there was a cold breeze that just seemed to sweep all the pain and tiredness away. After a few minutes we felt so refreshed and we all felt “This view is worth the climb!” We can draw a parallel with life here. Our journey through all the obstacles in life can be so tiring and tough, we do experience a little rest sometimes but we can’t stay there forever, we need to keep moving on, upward, the climb may be tough but once we reach there, I am sure we will all be able to say “It’s worth it!” We have to follow the guide so as to not to lose our way. He knows the best possible way, He has been there before. We need to trust in His wisdom.

The way down was much easier, so I was walking in front, even ahead of the guide 😉 but I learned my lesson. Whenever I reached a fork in the road, I used to look back at the guide hoping that he would point me out the way. But he would just keep walking on without giving me a hint. I kept waiting till he passed in front of me in the right way, then I would follow. Sometimes, when life seems easier we tend to ignore the guide, only when we have to make difficult choices that might have an impact on our lives, we turn to seek him. He may not answer us immediately, we may have to wait, then He goes on before us not just to show us the way but to let us know that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
